"Betrayal": MMA fighter Monson spoke harshly about athletes changing their Russian citizenship

Mixed martial artist Jeff Monson has condemned athletes who want to renounce their Russian citizenship for the sake of a career in other countries. He explained his position in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"These athletes need to remember what kind of country their homeland is. This is Russia - the place where they learned to play sports, where they had training, coaches, opponents who helped them become better...", - emphasized Jeff Monson during a conversation with a RIA Novosti correspondent.

The fighter added that he views the athletes’ desire to give up the passport of their home country, thanks to which they became outstanding athletes, exclusively as “betrayal.”

Born in the United States, Jeff Monson has been a Russian citizen for several years and currently lives in Bashkortostan. Earlier, the fighter shared his opinion with journalists about the prospect of working as a bodyguard for the Russian President.
